Rock River Radio Club Activities

The Club is having Field Day at Derge Park on June 28th.

After the regular monthly meeting of the Rock River Radio Club on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, an informal discussion took place to address activities for the 2008 Field Day event scheduled for the weekend of June 27, 28, and 29. The activities are to be held at Derge County Park northwest of Beaver Dam. It was suggested to organize early enough so if any issues came up, we would have time to react before the event. The dis-cussion was facilitated by RRRC President Ryan Klavekoske, KB9OWD. Ryan stated that he had talked to Connie DePover, K9CID, earlier in the day about the pot luck dinner for Saturday night. All present agreed that this type of meal has worked out well in the past ant were in favor of doing the same thing for this year. Connie said she would be willing to prepare the Sloppy Joe style meat again this year. A general dish to pass from any others would be appreciated. Roy and Beryl Pedersen, K9FHI and KA9BAC, will be bringing the soda again this year, so drinks are covered. Dale Marks, WB9ADB, will check into reserving the small overhang shel-ter for our potluck meal time, just in case Mother Nature decides not to cooperate. Approvals for expenses will be taken care of at the June meeting. Ryan said he would take care of publicity such as the notice in the Beaver Dam Citizen since he has contacts that he uses for the annual car show. The meal will begin at 5:00 PM as in prior years, as this seems to be an agreeable time and can be published for those who are not able to attend the monthly meetings and may not be able to participate in the entire weekend. Everyone is welcome to come out for any or all of the weekend as well as the Saturday potluck meal. There are still a couple of our reserved campsites available for anyone wanting to camp. The cost it $15 per night, but the RRRC pays for half of the cost, so both nights could be enjoyed for only a total of $15. It turns out to be a pretty good deal. There will be plenty of stations in operation for any who want to get on the air. If not, there are plenty of folks around who would enjoy anyone just stopping by to “shoot the breeze” for a while. The RRRC tends to keep things pretty informal so the time will be enjoy-able for everyone. We will be running on commercial power again this year to avoid the extra noise of a generator.
